Notes by Mark Wilson
To
anyone who knows her, Ruth Carroll is an inspiration. The ultimate
gourmand, Ruth has a natural knack for knowing what colors of flowers
go best together, what movie to watch to give you a cathartic release,
or what pattern of Scottish tartan to make an attractive kilt for
her stylish outfits.
Ruth was born in Birmingham Alabama, and moved to the San Francisco
Bay Area at the age of four. She grew up in the hillside community
of Kensington. She studied dramatic arts, art history, and film
history and production. Ruth attended the prestigious San Francisco
Art Institute, and then earned her B.A. in Art History from the
California State at Hayward.
In the go-go economy of the 1980's, Ruth Carroll managed the marketing
arm of Chicago Title Company's Albany/Berkeley California office.
Ruth's responsibilities included event planning, newsletters, crafting
corporate slogans/brochures and hiring personnel to assist her.
Ruth left Chicago Title in 1997, and went into her own freelance
career in marketing and website design.
She began noticing an interest among her educated and professional
clientele in the concept of a new type of one-stop shop website
that would enrich their lifestyles. So, during 2003, Ruth put her
creative talents to work to develop such a website. She assembled
talented artists to offer handcrafted jewelry and innovative customized
purses on this website, hired a professional web designer from England
and a much-published writer from Berkeley, California and added
her own extensive background in traveling to off-the-beaten path
destinations.
Ruth's love of Celtic culture and history, and her own Gaelic roots
(her great-great grandfather immigrated from Ireland in the mid-1800's),
lead her to coin the phrase "wildcelt.com" for her new
lifestyle website. And in January of 2004, voila!! One of the most
rewarding and sophisticated websites on the Internet was born.
Check it out for yourself-and enjoy!!
